Freight Car Friday

To prove I do more than passenger cars, here are a couple of freight cars.  First up is an early PS-1 car I built from a Ted Culotta article in RMC.  I have photos here of the construction,

I purchased some of the Eastern Seaboard Models.  This is there first foray into HO scale I hope they continue to do more. 

Both models have yet to be weathered. 

Tank Car

My friend Bill C. mentioned a Lehigh Gas tank car that was lettered for Norwich, Conn.  I have other info other then then the photo.  Does anybody know more about the company or the car.  Where in Norwich was the company located, did they have just the one car, what years was it in service.

Did Atlas or Kadee make a model or are there any decals available to letter it?

Quick Fix

Everybody makes mistakes, even historical groups.  The NHRHTA had a custom run of Intermountain box cars done in two paint schemes, delivery and the final NH paint scheme. Unfortunately an extra serif somehow ended up being added the the N in the logo.  I simply used a #17 chisel blade to scrape off the offending serif.  I did ding up the box brown paint a bit, but I will be able to cover it up when I weather the car.  the fix took less then 5 minutes.

Weathering, First Attempt

First attempt may not be entirely true, but it is with using Pan Pastels.  I started on some basic boxcars and then tried a Bachmann H-16-44.  I watched Mike Confalone's weathering videos from MRH.  Take a look below and let me know what you think.  I really find weathering back locomotives difficult.

The H-16-44 ready for Dullcote.  I did add Hancock Air Horns and some
bits of styrene to represent the steam generator.
